The Gift of Literature

Over the years, we’ve had the opportunity to share a number of our most beloved Christmas books. This year, we’re continuing this tradition by taking our catalog digital. Celebrate the holidays with some of these timeless classics.

The Nutcracker

Originally published as The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by E.T.A. Hoffman in 1816, The Nutcracker has become a staple of holiday literature. The story has also become a prominent ballet, transformed by playwright Ilyich Tchaikovsky in 1981 for Moscow’s Imperial Theatre.

The story follows a young girl who receives a nutcracker for Christmas and dreams it comes to life. She and her Nutcracker Prince then travel to a winter wonderland where they are hosted by the beautiful Sugarplum Fairy.
